This is Dad in 1993, in our living room, holding a statue of Jesus on the cross from Our Lady and St Brigid's Church, Northfield, Birmingham. Dad repaired two breaks in the left arm and repainted the Corpus. In this photo he has refitted the Corpus onto the original cross for safety while he made a new, 8ft x 4 ft cross in oak, which he then treated in two coats of preservative.

And this is him in 2008, enjoying his Sunday morning breakfast of coffee and marmalade on toast, watched over by a statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

This statue is from English Martyrs, Sparkhill, Birmingham, our family parish church. Originally Dad was only going to give it a wash in situ, but washing it hardly made any difference, so he took it home to repaint. The hands are missing because they were removable for ease of transport. This, obviously, is a 'before'.
This statue was repainted along with statues of Our Lady and St Joseph, after Dad had finished designing and making 14 stained glass windows to mark the centenary of the parish in 2008.
